Publication Ethics

Kahayan: Journal of Economic Studies and Research is committed to upholding ethical standards throughout the publication process. The journal adheres to guidelines recommended by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and expects ethical conduct from all parties involved, including authors, editors, reviewers, and publishers.

1. Responsibilities of Authors

Authors are required to:

  • Submit original and unpublished work

  • Ensure the accuracy and validity of data, methodology, and interpretation

  • Provide clear attribution and citation of all sources

  • Present studies transparently, especially involving human participants, data collection, or policy implications

  • Disclose any potential conflicts of interest

Authors must not:

  • Fabricate or falsify data

  • Manipulate results

  • Submit manuscripts to more than one journal at the same time

  • Engage in plagiarism or self-plagiarism

2. Responsibilities of Editors

Editors are responsible for:

  • Making publication decisions fairly and objectively

  • Ensuring that manuscripts are evaluated based on academic quality, originality, and relevance

  • Maintaining confidentiality of submitted manuscripts

  • Managing the peer-review process professionally and transparently

  • Taking corrective action when ethical misconduct is identified

An editor may reject manuscripts if ethical violations are found.

3. Responsibilities of Reviewers

Reviewers are expected to:

  • Provide objective, constructive, and timely evaluations

  • Evaluate manuscripts only within their areas of expertise

  • Maintain confidentiality of review materials

  • Avoid personal criticism

  • Declare conflict of interest if applicable

Reviewers must not use unpublished information for personal benefit.

4. Responsibilities of Publishers

The publisher ensures that:

  • Editorial independence is upheld

  • Publication decisions follow ethical principles

  • Archival access and availability are maintained

  • Misconduct is addressed professionally

The publisher supports retractions, corrections, and editorial notifications when ethical issues arise.

5. Ethical Handling of Misconduct

If ethical violations occur, the journal will follow COPE guidelines and may:

  • Request clarification from authors

  • Suspend review or editorial processes

  • Reject or withdraw the manuscript

  • Issue corrections, retractions, or notices

  • Inform relevant institutions

All decisions will be taken transparently, ensuring fairness and academic integrity.
