Publication Ethics

Isen Mulang: Journal of Education and Learning is committed to upholding academic integrity and ethical standards in all publication processes. The journal adopts and follows the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

Publication ethics apply to all parties involved: authors, editors, reviewers, and the publisher.

1. Ethical Responsibilities of Authors

Authors must:

  • Submit original work that has not been previously published or under review elsewhere

  • Ensure accuracy and validity of data, findings, and interpretations

  • Properly cite all referenced literature

  • Present methodology clearly and transparently

  • Obtain necessary ethical approval when involving human subjects

  • Disclose any conflicts of interest

Authors must not:

  • Fabricate, manipulate, or falsify data

  • Submit the same manuscript to multiple journals

  • Engage in plagiarism or unethical citation practices

2. Ethical Responsibilities of Editors

Editors are required to:

  • Make publication decisions fairly and objectively

  • Base editorial decisions on the significance, originality, and clarity of the manuscript

  • Maintain confidentiality of submitted manuscripts

  • Ensure transparent and accountable review processes

  • Take necessary action if ethical misconduct is reported

Editors may reject manuscripts that violate ethical principles.

3. Ethical Responsibilities of Reviewers

Reviewers must:

  • Provide objective and constructive evaluation

  • Keep reviewed materials confidential

  • Declare any conflicts of interest

  • Evaluate manuscripts only within their areas of expertise

  • Avoid using or sharing unpublished material

Reviewers must not intentionally delay the review process or give biased comments.

4. Ethical Responsibilities of the Publisher

The publisher ensures that:

  • All editorial decisions are made independently

  • Manuscript processing follows transparent procedures

  • Research output remains accessible to readers

  • Allegations of ethical misconduct are investigated thoroughly

The publisher supports ethical corrections, including retraction, erratum, or clarification where necessary.

5. Handling Ethical Misconduct

If ethical violations are identified—such as plagiarism, data fabrication, duplicate publication, authorship disputes, or research misconduct—the journal will:

  • Request written clarification from the authors

  • Suspend review or publication processes

  • Publish a correction or retraction notice when necessary

  • Notify affiliated institutions

All actions will be taken transparently in accordance with COPE guidelines.
