Peer Review Process

Huma Barigas: Journal of Medical and Health Sciences implements a rigorous and structured peer review system to ensure the quality, credibility, and scientific contribution of every published article.

1. Initial Editorial Assessment

All submitted manuscripts will undergo preliminary screening to evaluate:

  • Relevance to journal scope

  • Originality and novelty

  • Ethical compliance

  • Formatting completeness

  • Similarity level (plagiarism check)

Manuscripts that do not meet basic standards may be returned for revision or rejected before review.


2. Double-Blind Peer Review

Eligible submissions will be sent for double-blind peer review, meaning:

  • Authors do not know the identity of reviewers

  • Reviewers do not know the identity of authors

Each manuscript is evaluated by a minimum of two reviewers with expertise relevant to the manuscript topic.


3. Reviewer Evaluation Criteria

Reviewers assess the manuscript based on:

  • Originality, significance, and research contribution

  • Clarity of objectives and research formulation

  • Appropriateness and validity of methodology

  • Completeness of data analysis and interpretation

  • Ethical considerations in data collection and reporting

  • Relevance and accuracy of references

Reviewers provide constructive comments to improve the manuscript.


4. Review Decision Categories

Reviewers recommend one of the following decisions:

  1. Accepted (no revision required)

  2. Accepted with minor revisions

  3. Accepted with major revisions

  4. Revise and resubmit

  5. Rejected

Final decisions are made by the Editor-in-Chief.


5. Revision Process

If revisions are required, authors must:

  • Revise the manuscript according to reviewer comments

  • Highlight revisions made

  • Submit a response-to-reviewers document outlining improvements

If needed, revised manuscripts may be re-evaluated by reviewers.


6. Final Editorial Verification

The editorial board ensures that:

  • Revisions are adequately addressed

  • Ethical and methodological standards are met

  • Formatting guidelines are followed

Accepted manuscripts proceed to layout and publication.
